Vox seeks to investigate Pedro Sánchez for treason over Ceuta crisis
Vox leader Santiago Abascal has announced that the party will attempt to trigger Article 102 of the Spanish Constitution to investigate President Pedro Sánchez and his cabinet. The proposal is centered on allegations of "treason and crimes against State security" following a recent mass migration incident in Ceuta.
Vox argues there is evidence the government had prior knowledge of the arrival of migrants and failed to act, describing the event as a "hybrid war" against Spain. The party is demanding the immediate declassification of communications between the Spanish government and Moroccan authorities, as well as intelligence reports related to the incident.
Under Article 102, the investigation would be handled by the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. To proceed, the initiative requires the support of at least one-fourth of the Congress members (88 deputies) and must subsequently be approved by an absolute majority of the House. Vox, holding 32 to 33 seats, has stated its deputies are at the disposal of other parliamentary groups to reach the required threshold.
