VOX urges removal of aid for detained immigrant and opposes draft child‑illness benefit reforms in Spain

VOX councilors in Sant Cugat demanded the immediate termination of any public assistance to a Maghrebi man detained after a new violent episode at the municipal Social Services centre. The party cited previous threats and property damage, and called on the city’s security lieutenant mayor Bernat Picornell to act as a private prosecutor and to pursue the man’s expulsion when legally possible. “Es inadmisible que un individuo que amenaza reiteradamente a trabajadoras municipales… siga recibiendo dinero público,” a VOX spokesman said.

The VOX parliamentary group in Catalonia submitted a resolution seeking the withdrawal of a draft Royal Decree (1148/2011) that would modify the CUME economic aid for children with serious illnesses. VOX argues the proposal re‑introduces a “long‑stay” hospital concept, limits aid to extensions signed only by primary‑care doctors, penalises school attendance, and creates unequal treatment for civil‑servants. The party demands that primary‑care doctors retain signing authority, that oversight of mutuas be strengthened, and that protection be extended beyond age 26. “Estas medidas castigan la normalización social del menor,” the group warned.
