Voyager Technologies pushes for relaxed NASA requirements on Starlab commercial station

Voyager Technologies remains optimistic about its Starlab commercial space station, citing more than $500 million in commercial agreements and a funded NASA Space Act Agreement valued at $218 million. The company reported receiving about $211 million to date and completing $4 million in milestones in the second quarter.

Voyager is seeking changes to NASA’s draft request for proposals (RFP) for the Commercial Low‑Earth‑Orbit Destinations program, arguing that some requirements are overly stringent and could hinder timely, on‑budget development. Chief executive Dylan Taylor and CFO Phil de Sousa said they expect certain elements of the final RFP to be “changed or relaxed a bit.” NASA issued the draft RFP on July 6, with feedback due July 27, and has recently reaffirmed its original plan to support commercial space stations.

The company views Starlab as well positioned within NASA’s commercial LEO strategy and expects continued government and commercial commitment despite the RFP concerns.
