Vozinha nears official debut with Colo Colo

Colo Colo manager Fernando Ortiz is evaluating whether Cape Verdean goalkeeper Josimar José Évora, known as Vozinha, will make his official debut this Sunday against O'Higgins. The 40-year-old goalkeeper has been training with the squad for approximately ten days since his arrival in Chile on August 2.

Ortiz stated that while no final decision has been made, Vozinha is in a position to compete. The manager is assessing how the veteran integrates with his teammates and whether he requires more training time. Vozinha, who gained international recognition during the 2026 World Cup, is currently competing for a starting position against 19-year-old Gabriel Maureira.

Ortiz emphasized that he treats both players equally, prioritizing collective team performance and security over individual preference. Colo Colo currently leads the Chilean league with a 12-point advantage over Universidad de Chile.
