Vozinha nominated for Ballon d'Or Yashin Trophy

Cabo Verdean goalkeeper Josimar José Évora Dias, widely known as ‘Vozinha’, has been officially nominated for the 2026 Yashin Trophy as part of the Ballon d'Or awards. The 40-year-old veteran, who currently plays for Colo Colo in Chile, dedicated the historic nomination to the people of Cabo Verde.

The recognition follows his standout performance during the 2026 World Cup, where he led the debutant Cabo Verdean national team to the round of 32. During the tournament, Vozinha recorded clean sheets against Spain and Saudi Arabia, and secured a draw against Uruguay, before ultimately falling 3-2 to Argentina in a close knockout match.
