Vozuće commemorates 31 years since Serbian exodus
Commemorations have been held to mark the 31st anniversary of the exodus of Serbs from Vozuće. During an offensive by the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the ‘El mudžahedin’ unit, more than 7,600 Serbs were expelled from the Vozuće area in the Zavidovići municipality.
The conflict resulted in the burning of 30 Serbian villages and the deaths of 459 civilians and fighters. Currently, 129 individuals remain missing. Families continue to search for their loved ones, with some noting that remains have been found in nearby areas like Maglaj, though many still remain unaccounted for.
Viktor Nuždić, acting director of the Republican Center for Research of War, War Crimes and Searching for Missing Persons, suggested that there may have been efforts to conceal remains following the war. Representatives of families of the missing have expressed frustration with the current search processes and the judicial system.
