Vår Energi discovers Zagato oil field in Barents Sea

Vår Energi has confirmed the discovery of the Zagato oil field (7122/8-3 S) in the Barents Sea, located within the Goliat area. The discovery was made via the 7122/8-3 A exploration well, drilled to a depth of over 2,200 meters below sea level by the COSL Prospector rig.

Preliminary estimates suggest the field could contain between 21 and 75 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent. This is an increase from previous estimates, which placed the resource scale at approximately 2.8 to 10.1 million standard cubic meters.

Drilling results identified multiple oil columns totaling 63 meters in length within the Middle Triassic Kobbe formation. License holders are currently evaluating plans to connect the Zagato discovery to existing infrastructure at the Goliat field, which could reduce development costs and timelines compared to a standalone project.
