Vračar clan leader Nikola Vušović faces indictment over murder and Novichok plots

A new indictment against Nikola Vušović, leader of the so-called ‘Vračar clan’, reveals detailed criminal plots involving murder, attempted liquidations, and the pursuit of chemical weapons. According to prosecution evidence derived from Sky ECC messages, Vušović and his associates discussed the murder of Vladimir Popović Pop and planned to silence a potential witness, Aleksandar S., who was detained in Vienna.

The messages indicate that the group sought to acquire the nerve agent ‘Novichok’ on the black market to eliminate the witness, as previous attempts using cyanide had failed. Vušović reportedly communicated with Radoje Zvicer regarding the investigation and even sought a chemist to produce the poison. One contact informed Vušović that a sample of Novichok could cost ten million pounds, making it nearly impossible to obtain.

The indictment also links the group to the 2018 killing of Vladimir Popović Pop in a Belgrade cafe, where Marko Drakula and Aleksa Petrović allegedly carried out the shooting. Additionally, the group is accused of attempting to liquidate Nenad Alajbegović and conducting bombings at several locations in Belgrade.
