Bosnian diaspora economic impact reaches 20% of GDP
The Bosnian diaspora plays a critical economic role for Bosnia and Herzegovina, with annual remittances potentially reaching 5 billion marks through the Central Bank and an estimated additional 5 billion marks through unofficial channels. This total represents approximately 20 percent of the country's gross domestic product. Despite this economic importance, there is a noted lack of political participation among the diaspora, prompting calls for members to vote in the upcoming general elections on October 4, 2026.
