Vrancea Police Lead Anti‑Drug and Absenteeism Campaign in Focșani Schools

On 26 May 2026, the Vrancea County Police, together with the local Gendarmerie, School Inspectorate, Public Health Directorate and Consumer Protection agencies, organized a preventive operation in three schools in Focșani. The joint effort, managed by the Police School Safety Unit and supported by canine, criminal‑istics and public‑order teams, aimed to curb school absenteeism, drug consumption and trafficking, the victimisation of minors, and the illegal sale of alcohol, cigarettes and energy drinks to youngsters.

About 40 individuals were detained and three economic entities were inspected; no incidents were reported that disrupted normal teaching activities. Commercial staff received instruction on the legal limits for selling products to minors, while specialists on organised crime briefed participants on the social, legal and medical consequences of drug use and the various forms of human‑trafficking. Recommendations emphasized open communication with parents and teachers, safe internet practices and mutual respect among peers to protect young people.
