Vratislav Mynář awarded 1.47 million CZK in compensation
The Olomouc District Court has issued a payment order requiring the Czech Ministry of Justice to pay former presidential office head Vratislav Mynář 1,470,422 CZK. The amount serves as compensation for damages and non-pecuniary harm following his previous acquittal in a subsidy fraud case.
Mynář, a former key associate of Miloš Zeman, had originally sought 1.9 million CZK. The Ministry of Justice has announced it will file an opposition to the court's decision, meaning the case will proceed to a public main hearing at the same court.
The legal dispute stems from a 2021 indictment involving a 5.99 million CZK European Union subsidy obtained by Mynář’s company, Clever Management, for a guesthouse in Osvětimanech. Prosecutors alleged the funds were obtained improperly by failing to disclose prior Ministry of Education subsidies. Mynář was acquitted of all charges in January last year.
