Vrgorac faces water shortages due to low Banja spring levels
The Vrgorac region is experiencing significant water supply disruptions due to critically low water levels at the Banja spring, making it impossible to pump water. While the town of Vrgorac currently maintains a supply thanks to a 2,000-cubic-meter reservoir, local authorities have implemented supply reductions to preserve remaining stocks.
Several surrounding settlements, including Ravča, Stilja, Prapatnice, and Orah, are facing outages. In contrast, areas like Zavojane remain supplied due to local reservoir capacities. The shortage affects over 4,000 residents in the Banja subsystem, with additional impacts reaching parts of Zagvozd, Podgora, and the settlement of Kašće in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
To address the crisis, authorities are organizing water deliveries via tankers. Vrgorac Mayor Mile Herceg has announced plans to seek assistance from the Croatian Ministry of Defense to ensure sufficient drinking water for the affected population.
