Várzea Grande removes 360 tons of irregular waste

The City Hall of Várzea Grande conducted a large-scale cleaning operation in the Cohab Primavera region to remove approximately 360 tons of illegally discarded waste. The operation utilized roughly 30 garbage trucks, each carrying an estimated 12 tons of material.

Local officials noted that despite signage prohibiting illegal dumping, the area continues to be used for disposing of trash and debris. The accumulation of waste poses significant environmental risks and public health concerns, particularly regarding the proliferation of mosquitoes that transmit dengue fever during the rainy season.

Gerson Scarton, the Municipal Secretary of Public Services and Urban Mobility, stated that the logistical operation aims to restore mobility and safety to the area while emphasizing the need for proper waste disposal to protect public health and the environment.
