Várzea Grande City Council warns of major public account deficit

The President of the Várzea Grande City Council, Wanderley Cerqueira, has issued a warning regarding a significant deficit in the municipality's public accounts. Cerqueira criticized the Executive Branch for failing to meet deadlines and withholding responses to legislative inquiries. He noted that a recent decree transferred responsibility for these responses to the Secretary of Government, which he claims has created a bottleneck and hindered transparency.

Cerqueira also highlighted a fiscal crisis affecting local suppliers, noting that a company contracted for the City Council building renovation has not received payments for eight months. He warned that the current debt levels pose serious challenges for future administrations.
