Várzea Grande Council Honors Journalists with Elisangela Nepomuceno Title

The municipal council of Várzea Grande, Brazil, will hold a solemn session on 26 June at 19:00 to present the Elisangela Nepomuceno title. The award, created by a council resolution, recognises journalists—residents or not—who have made significant contributions to public information, transparency and civic engagement in the municipality. Each councilor may nominate candidates, and the ceremony will take place in the council plenary on Avenida Castelo Branco. The event coincides with celebrations for Press Day on 1 June and is open to the public free of charge, emphasizing the council’s support for the role of the press in local social, economic and institutional development.
