Várzea Grande courts order eviction of Brothers franchise and freeze municipal funds

A Mato Grosso judge granted an injunction ordering Jefferson Mello Guimarães Eireli, the operator of the Brothers clothing franchise at Várzea Grande Shopping, to vacate the premises within 15 days, with the possibility of police‑assisted forced eviction if the company does not comply.

Separately, the Mato Grosso Tribunal of Justice seized R$ 19.7 million from the accounts of Várzea Grande’s municipal government after the city failed to meet its obligations on precatórios. The mayor subsequently declared a financial and fiscal emergency for the municipality, citing ongoing fiscal difficulties despite recent cash injections.
