Várzea Grande ex‑mayor Kalil Baracat accuses Mayor Flávia Moretti of shifting responsibility

Former mayor Kalil Baracat (MDB) criticised current mayor Flávia Moretti (PL) after she blamed inherited problems for Várzea Grande's severe financial crisis. Moretti had declared a state of financial emergency for the municipality and its water and sewage department, citing over R$1 billion in precatory liabilities.

Baracat denied that his administration created the deficit, stating the precatory debt stems from previous administrations and that his term consistently paid such obligations on time. He presented documents showing the city ended the 2025 fiscal year with a deficit exceeding R$113 million and urged oversight bodies to closely monitor the current administration's actions.
