Várzea Grande expands street and public‑space upgrades across dozens of neighborhoods

The municipality of Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, continued its "VG em Ação" programme of urban maintenance and improvements. Between 1 and 5 June the city’s Secretariat of Roads and Works carried out more than 60 actions in 15 neighbourhoods, including pothole repairs, grading of unpaved roads, cleaning and maintenance of drainage openings, and the installation of speed bumps. The municipal Secretary of Roads and Works, Celso Pereira, said the work aims to regularise streets quickly and improve traffic conditions for residents.

A second phase on 10 June saw teams from the Secretariat of Public Services and Mobility work in numerous districts – Avenida Mário Andreazza, Construmat, Parque do Lago, Nova Várzea Grande, Jardim Paula II, Centro, Vila Ipase, Novo Mato Grosso, Jardim Maringá, Unipark, Parque das Américas, the Alameda waterfront, Passagem da Conceição, Tanque do Fancho and several public squares. Activities included grass cutting, debris removal, tree pruning, plaza revitalisation, curb painting, upgraded signage, new speed bumps and modernised street lighting, all intended to enhance public space quality and mobility.
