Várzea Grande Hospital Embraces Volunteer Clown Project to Humanize Care

The Municipal Hospital and Emergency Department of Várzea Grande (HPSMVG) has instituted the "Sempre Sorrindo" (Always Smiling) project, a volunteer initiative led by clown Fusila and a team that visits the facility twice a month. The group brings music, games and affectionate interaction to patients, relatives and staff, aiming to ease anxiety and foster positive emotions.

Social worker Cristiany Gonçalves notes the program’s contribution to emotional well‑being, while municipal health secretary Ângela Sabóia emphasizes that humanized care goes beyond clinical procedures. The visits have become a regular part of the hospital’s routine, reinforcing a lighter, more supportive environment for everyone present.
