Várzea Grande launches 21st FETRAN theater festival with nine schools

The 21st edition of the Festival Estudantil Temático Teatro para o Trânsito (FETRAN) opened on June 29 at the Orla da Alameda in Várzea Grande, Brazil. Nine municipal schools participating in the Programa Escola de Tempo Ampliado performed theatrical pieces aimed at raising traffic‑safety awareness. The municipal secretary of Education, Culture, Sports and Leisure, Maria Fernanda de Figueiredo, said the festival shows how education can transform lives and improve road safety.

Police Roadway Federal officials highlighted the partnership with DETRAN and other institutions, noting that the event nurtures responsible future drivers and pedestrians. Winners will represent Várzea Grande in the regional stage scheduled for August‑September, with the state‑wide competition to conclude later in Cuiabá.
