Brazilian municipalities report improved educational indices and student competition success

Several Brazilian municipalities have reported significant educational developments based on recent indices and academic competitions.

According to the 2025 IDEB (Basic Education Development Index) results, Marília's municipal network reached a score of 7.1, matching the national average for private schools in the early years of elementary education. In Presidente Prudente, the municipal network maintained a score of 6.6, exceeding the national average of 6.3. Diamantino also reported progress, reaching a historic high of 6.1, while Várzea Paulista rose to 6.5.

In academic competitions, 140 students from Várzea Grande qualified for the second phase of the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad of Public Schools (OBMEP). Additionally, students from Colégio Santa Cecília advanced in the Brazilian Rocketry Olympiad (OBAFOG), the Portuguese Language Olympiad (OP), and the OBMEP.

In Várzea Grande, the 'Planetarium and Immersive Cinema in School' project is set to bring audiovisual astronomy and technology presentations to approximately 2,200 students across four municipal schools.
