Várzea Grande implements tax programs and administrative reforms

The municipality of Várzea Grande is implementing several administrative and legislative changes. The city is promoting its Refis 2026 program, which offers tax regularization for individuals and legal entities. The program provides significant discounts on debts related to IPTU, ISSQN, and business licenses, including up to 80% for lump-sum payments.

Mayor Flávia Moretti has sanctioned a package of complementary laws to update career plans and compensation for municipal public servants in the health, education, and economic development sectors. Additionally, the city has approved the restructuring of the Municipal Council for the Elderly to strengthen public policies and social rights for that population.

Meanwhile, political tension has risen in the Municipal Chamber. President Wanderley Cerqueira is facing legal action and criticism from several council members after refusing to schedule a new election for the Chamber's Board of Directors. This follows a previous election that was annulled by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for violating constitutional principles.
