Brazilian cities roll out road paving and drainage projects

Municipal governments across Brazil are advancing extensive road‑paving, intersection upgrades and drainage works. In Palmas, more than 60% of the asphalt on Avenida Siqueira Campos is finished and traffic has been opened. Feira de Santana’s SESP launched a multi‑day cleaning and waste‑removal drive in several neighborhoods. João Monlevade (Nova 381) began a new phase of widening and reconfiguring two major urban roundabouts to improve capacity and safety. Bragança Paulista’s Vias Novas programme started a July 2026 asphalt‑recovery schedule for dozens of streets in the city centre. Araripina’s “banho de asfalto” reached the district of Nascente, adding over 100 km of paved roads. Patos de Minas converted Jari and Piracicaba streets to one‑way traffic for better flow near a school. Osasco’s RodoAnel Oeste entered a second stage of viaduct rehabilitation, working 24 hours a day. Orleans began drainage installation on Rua Azelino Bonetti ahead of future paving. Niterói’s Region Oceânica started six‑street drainage, paving and urbanisation works worth R$ 7.3 million. Additional projects include maintenance in Várzea Grande, new asphalt on Avenida Perimetral Oeste in Farroupilha, and drainage‑paving works in Oliveira, Ubatuba and other towns. Collectively, these initiatives aim to boost urban mobility, reduce flood risk and improve residents’ quality of life.
