Várzea Grande police seize R$11.3k in fraud arrest

The 4th Battalion of the Military Police of Mato Grosso arrested a 26‑year‑old man on 7 July in Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, after receiving tips that he was repeatedly withdrawing cash from an ATM in the Jardim dos Estados neighbourhood. During the operation officers confiscated about R$11.3 thousand in cash and several bank cards used in the scheme. The suspect told investigators he was acting on orders from a criminal faction and would be paid after delivering the money.

Police also searched the suspect’s vehicle and found additional cash hidden under the carpet. While being taken to the police station, the man attempted to bribe the officers by offering a farm and R$10 thousand to each member of the patrol. He was later transferred to the Central de Flagrantes and handed over to the Civil Police for further processing.
