Várzea Grande reinstates PCCS to strengthen public health staff

The municipal Health Secretariat of Várzea Grande has revived the Plano de Cargos, Carreiras e Salários (PCCS) as a key measure to value public servants and improve staff retention across the municipality. Health secretary Valéria Nogueira explained that qualified and recognized workers directly affect the operation and quality of public health services.

The PCCS initiative targets chronic hiring gaps in specialized medicine, dentistry, nursing audit and veterinary medicine, especially for the city's Center for Zoonoses Control. Nogueira also stressed the need for continuous technical training and management skills, noting that effective leadership requires both clinical expertise and administrative competence. The current selective hiring process, though not a public concurso, aims to ensure transparency, meritocracy and legal security for both the administration and new hires. The effort is presented as part of Mayor Flávia Moretti's commitment to enhance health management and service quality for the population of Várzea Grande.
