Várzea Grande reports 113.7 million reais unpaid obligations for 2025
The municipality of Várzea Grande disclosed that it recorded R$113.7 million in unprocessed "restos a pagar" for the 2025 fiscal year. Of that amount, R$99.5 million pertains to the city hall, R$12.5 million to the Water and Sewage Department, and R$1.6 million to the municipal council.
In addition, the city paid R$33.5 million for expenses from previous years (DEA) in 2025, bringing the total inherited commitments to R$72.6 million. Throughout 2025 the administration disbursed R$39.1 million to settle past obligations—R$32.1 million for unprocessed debts and R$7 million for processed debts. The full register of "restos a pagar" reached R$110.2 million, with R$10.6 million already processed. The municipality noted that without using current resources to cover old debts, the unprocessed amount would have been about 40 % lower.
