Várzea Grande rolls out clothing aid, health clinic expansion, and urban clean‑up projects
The municipality of Várzea Grande launched the "Armário Solidário" initiative to collect clothing, shoes and accessories for a charitable bazaar. Donations can be made until 9 September at collection points in the Várzea Grande Forum, the Mato Grosso State Court, the Cuiabá Forum and the Complex of Small Claims Courts. Proceeds from the bazaar, scheduled for 8 October, will support the NGO Lírios, which assists women and girls who are victims of domestic violence.
The city also continued its "VG em Ação" programme on Thursday, deploying crews to clean streets, remove debris, trim trees, revitalize squares, paint curbs and improve traffic signage, speed bumps and street lighting across dozens of neighborhoods, including Avenida Mário Andreazza, Bairro Construmat, Parque do Lago and many others.
In a separate announcement, Mayor Flávia Moretti and state deputy Juca do Guaraná visited the Água Vermelha neighbourhood and announced the renovation and enlargement of the Estratégia Saúde da Família Celestina Gomes Coelho health unit. The upgraded clinic will serve more than 7,000 registered residents, offering expanded vaccination, prenatal care, elder‑health monitoring and other services. Deputy Guaraná noted a recent allocation of R$ 1.5 million for municipal health projects.
