Várzea Grande school theater festival highlights traffic safety plays

Schools in Várzea Grande presented more than 20 original theatre pieces as part of the municipal stage of the 21st edition of the Festival Estudantil Temático Teatro para o Trânsito (Fetran). Federal Highway Police inspector Ney Pedroso de Barros, a member of the traffic‑education group, said the competition was fierce and praised the high quality of the performances, noting that “each presentation is a surprise, a mix of enchantment and emotion. They are pieces of the highest level.”

The shows took place on Tuesday, 30 May, at the Centro Cultural Orla da Alameda, featuring works such as “Blog no Trânsito,” “Uma Vila em Apuros,” and “A Cidade Fala.” Parents in the audience expressed pride, with one mother saying she was “very emotional” to see her daughter’s growth through the performance.

Fetran will continue in Várzea Grande until Friday, 3 June, when a prize ceremony is scheduled for 13:30. The event is one of three remaining regional stages before the state‑level round, following earlier contests in Primavera do Leste and Pontes e Lacerda.
