Várzea Grande students win national math bronze medal and gear up for state Paralympic school games

Allarice Aparecida Marques de Almeida, a 9th‑grade student at EMEB Maria Barbosa Martins, received a bronze medal in the 20th Olympiad of Brazilian Public Schools Mathematics (OBMEP). The award ceremony was held at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) and highlighted the strong participation of Mato Grosso, where 96% of schools entered the competition, totaling more than 380,000 registrations nationwide.

Meanwhile, Várzea Grande’s paralympic athletes are intensifying training for the Mato Grosso State School Paralympic Games in Cáceres (August 3‑8). About 30 members of the delegation – including roughly 20 athletes competing in athletics, adapted bocce and para‑badminton – will travel to the event. The VG Mais Esporte project, run by the municipal Secretariat of Education, Culture, Sports and Leisure, supports around 174 active paralympic athletes, providing specialized coaching and expanding activities to schools and community centers.
