Várzea Grande water utility launches own meter‑reader team

The Departamento de Água e Esgoto de Várzea Grande (DAE‑VG) has created a dedicated team of meter readers to conduct water‑meter readings and deliver printed billing booklets directly to households. The new crew, already operating in several neighborhoods, is uniformed and identified, aiming to increase efficiency, speed and transparency while strengthening the utility’s relationship with residents.

DAE‑VG asks homeowners, condominium managers and tenants to allow the team access to interior meters and to regularly inspect water tanks, floats and meters, warning that faulty equipment can inflate consumption and bills. For the first 20 days of the initiative, some customers may see higher charges as the new reading process regularizes usage data. Consumers with questions or discrepancies are directed to the department’s commercial division for review and correction.

The deployment is part of a broader modernization effort by the municipal water and sewage authority to provide a more reliable and responsive service to the population of Várzea Grande.
