Vsetín implements major public transport overhaul and new terminal

Vsetín is implementing significant changes to its public transport system starting August 30, coinciding with the opening of a new transport terminal. The overhaul follows five years of construction and approximately 4 billion CZK in investments into the railway and bus station areas.

Key updates include the introduction of new bus lines, re-routing of existing services, and the renumbering of several lines. A major change is the introduction of “on-demand stops” (zastávky na znamení) for local transit to improve traffic flow, reduce noise, and lower emissions. Passengers must signal their intent to board by being visible to the driver and signal their intent to exit by pressing the STOP button.

Additionally, the city decided to cancel the planned “Delta” stop in the Rybníky district. Mayor Jiří Čunek stated that the decision was made to preserve local parking spaces in Štěpánská Street, noting that the nearby residential area remains within walking distance of the new main transport hub. The old waiting room in the tower building will also be closed, with passengers redirected to the new terminal.
