VTubers Ponpoko and Peanuts-kun release ‘Backrooms’ browser game

VTubers Koga-ryu Ninja Ponpoko and Peanuts-kun have released a free browser game titled ‘Pokopea in The Backrooms’. The game is a limited-time release available until September 20.

Inspired by the ‘Backrooms’ internet urban legend and film, the title is an indoor escape game where players explore eerie rooms using a keyboard to photograph specific items. The game features a mode where unidentified entities chase the player, as well as a ‘peaceful mode’ without threats. Items to be collected are themed around the VTubers' previous activities.

Clearing stages allows players to access a special page to purchase limited-edition merchandise, including T-shirts, tote bags, and stickers. The release coincides with the Japanese theatrical release of the ‘Backrooms’ film.
