The inaugural VTV Cup Vietnam Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament was officially announced on August 15. Organized by Vietnam Television (VTV) in collaboration with the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the tournament aims to create a national platform for women from ethnic minority communities to showcase their athletic talent.

The competition is scheduled to take place from August 23 to August 29, 2026, at the Nghia Lo Ward Stadium in Lao Cai province. The first edition will feature 12 teams representing nine different provinces across the country, including participants from Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Cao Bang, and Nghe An.

Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of VTV, stated that the tournament is designed to be a sustainable sporting event that integrates sports with the cultural identity and community life of ethnic minorities. Beyond the matches, the event is expected to promote gender equality, foster community connection, and provide a space for cultural exchange.
