VTV faces criticism for describing Hanoi floodwaters as a “free water park”

A social media controversy has emerged following a post by VTV regarding flood conditions in Triều Khúc, Hanoi. While local areas face significant damage to property, infrastructure, and human safety due to heavy rains, the broadcaster described images of the flooded area as a “free water park.”

The description drew sharp criticism from netizens, who argued that characterizing urban flooding as an entertainment venue trivializes the dangers involved, such as electrical leaks, open manholes, and water pollution. Following the backlash, the post was deleted. VTV has not yet provided a formal explanation for the phrasing.
