Lao Cai provincial police have arrested and charged Vũ Hoàng Hải, a prominent social media influencer known as ‘Hải Sapa TV’, for consumer fraud. Hải is accused of using his massive following on TikTok and YouTube to misrepresent products to his audience.

Investigations revealed that between 2022 and 2025, Hải and his wife, Bùi Thị Kim Tuyên, sold ‘spicy dried buffalo meat’ marketed as a Northwest specialty. However, the product was actually manufactured by the Hoàng Nam Manufacturing and Trading Joint Stock Company using frozen buffalo meat imported from India.

Authorities have also charged Bùi Thị Kim Tuyên and Phạm Văn Hà, the director of the manufacturing company, with serious violations of accounting regulations. Records indicate that Tuyên purchased approximately 30 billion VND worth of the product for resale. The case is currently under further investigation to clarify the full extent of the fraudulent activities and the total financial impact.
