Vueling aircraft makes emergency landing in Barcelona after bird strike
A Vueling aircraft performed an emergency landing at Barcelona-El Prat Airport on Saturday after a bird strike caused an engine fire. The flight, which was en route to Milan, Italy, had departed shortly before the incident occurred.
Following the impact, the crew successfully maneuvered the aircraft back to the runway. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew members. In response to the severity of the engine fire, Protection Civil de Cataluña activated the pre-alert phase of the Aerocat special plan for aeronautical emergencies to coordinate fire services and medical assistance.
This incident follows other recent engine-related emergencies at the Barcelona airport, including a Delta flight that returned to the airport on September 25 after experiencing engine flames.
