Vučić rejects claims that Serbia should pay Croatian war reparations to Montenegro

Aleksandar Vučić, the leader of the ‘United Serbia’ list, has rejected claims that Serbia should pay war reparations demanded by Croatia from Montenegro. Speaking at a pre-election rally in Šabac, Vučić responded to statements made by Montenegrin Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mirsad Nurković, who suggested that Serbia should cover the approximately €2.7 billion that Croatia is seeking from Montenegro regarding military equipment transferred during the wars in the former Yugoslavia.

Vučić characterized the suggestion as ‘extortion’ and stated that Serbia would not pay such amounts to any nation. He further addressed regional political tensions, accusing Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Montenegrin leaders Milo Đukanović and Milojko Spajić of supporting his political opponents in Serbia.

Regarding foreign policy, Vučić affirmed that Serbia would maintain its current orientation, continuing to build relations with China and the United States while refusing to impose sanctions on Russia. He emphasized that Serbia intends to decide its own international relations independently.
