Vuk Iković barred from inspecting industrial sites in Montenegro

Vuk Iković, a biologist and representative of the Preokret citizens' group for Danilovgrad, has reported being barred from participating in a site inspection of the Primato P slaughterhouse in Spuž and the Mondal cement plant in Martinići.

The inspection was organized at the initiative of the European Union Delegation in Montenegro and included representatives from the Municipality of Danilovgrad. While officials were permitted entry, Iković claims he was denied access despite being a planned participant representing the public interest. In response, other civil society representatives declined to participate in the restricted visits, opting instead to visit the Voli Naša farm, which allowed all invited participants.

Iković has raised concerns regarding transparency and the protection of the Zeta River, which he links to pollution from these industrial sites. He specifically questioned the decision of competent institutions to accept inspection conditions that excluded certain participants and expressed concern over the Agency for Environmental Protection issuing a new environmental permit to the Primato P slaughterhouse.
