Vukovar marks Day of Remembrance for missing persons

Commemorations were held in Vukovar to mark the Day of Remembrance for the Missing in the Homeland War and the International Day of the Disappeared. The events, organized by various veteran and family associations with support from the Ministry of Croatian Veterans, included tributes at the Borovo Naselje monument, services at the Memorial Cemetery of Victims of the Homeland War, and a mass at the Parish Church of St. Philip and James.

During the commemorations, Tomo Medved, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Croatian Veterans, emphasized that searching for missing persons is a permanent obligation of the Republic of Croatia to provide answers to families who have been waiting for over 30 years.

In a related context of supporting families of the fallen, representatives from the Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Fighters and Missing Civilians in Prijedor visited Milka Milinović, the mother of a fallen fighter. The visit highlighted the ongoing struggles of elderly family members of war victims, including issues regarding pension adequacy for families of veterans who passed away after the war.
