Vukovar unveils monument to defender Vinko Budimir

A monument has been unveiled on Trpinjska cesta in Vukovar to honor Vinko Budimir, known as ‘Slon’, a Croatian defender who died on this day in 1991. The ceremony was attended by his son, Duje Budimir, and his mother, Marija Budimir.

Duje Budimir described the monument as a permanent reminder of his father and all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom. Local officials, including Vukovar Mayor Marijan Pavliček, emphasized the importance of monuments in preserving the truth about the Homeland War. The memorial is dedicated not only to Budimir but to all participants in the defense of Trpinjska cesta, Vukovar, and Croatia.
