Vulci: Ancient Etruscan port Regisvilla rediscovered
Archaeological excavations in Montalto di Castro have revealed the remains of Regisvilla, the ancient port of the Etruscan city of Vulci. Located near the mouth of the Fiora River in the Lazio region, the site is being explored through both underwater and land-based excavations.
Vulci was a major Etruscan capital that held strategic importance until the Roman conquest in 280 BCE. The port of Regisvilla served as a vital commercial hub, connecting the city to Mediterranean trade routes. The ongoing research aims to uncover more about the social and economic networks of this ancient civilization.
