Vulnerable families face housing crisis in Bosnia and Montenegro

Vulnerable families in the Balkans are facing severe housing insecurity and poverty. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ćorić family lives in a dilapidated house without running water in Male Sočanica. The nine-member household, including six children, struggles with extreme living conditions and health issues; two children require medical attention and therapy that the family cannot afford.

The humanitarian organization ‘Srbi za Srbe’ has launched an initiative to secure a new home for the family. Meanwhile, in Montenegro, the NGO ‘Phiren Amenca’ has issued an urgent call to the Ministry of Social Welfare to intervene for two Roma families, the Ahmetajs, who face imminent homelessness. The NGO highlighted the gap between Montenegro’s progress in European integration and the lived reality of social exclusion and housing instability for Roma populations.
