Vurlon Mills Football Academy wins inaugural GFF U13 championship

Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) has been named the inaugural Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Under-13 Youth Ensemble National Champion. The Georgetown-based academy secured the title with a 3-0 victory over Upper Demerara’s YMCA in the final held at the National Training Centre in Providence.

Goalscorers for VMFA included Dean Vancooten, Dontay Kowlessar, and Nash Moe. The tournament is part of the GFF’s Youth Ensemble Programme, a FIFA-supported initiative aimed at improving the organization and delivery of youth football throughout Guyana.

In the third-place playoff, Potaro Strikers FC defeated Plaisance FC 3-0 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Anthwon Robinson scored for Plaisance, while Kriston Chandler scored the equalizer for Potaro Strikers.
