Vusimuzi Matlala ordered to file affidavits in Madlanga Commission inquiry
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has ordered Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala to file a supplementary affidavit by Friday, with further legal arguments due by Saturday. Matlala, an accused in an attempted murder case, is a central figure in the commission’s investigation into the alleged criminal infiltration of law enforcement agencies, specifically regarding the Medicare24 Tshwane District tender.
During his testimony, Matlala invoked his right against self-incrimination to avoid answering questions about the Medicare24 contract, citing pending criminal proceedings. He also denied having any relationship with Police Minister Senzo Mchunu. However, Matlala alleged that Mchunu intended to replace Crime Intelligence Head Dumisani Khumalo with suspended Major-General Feroz Khan, a claim he says was relayed to him by former Police Minister Bheki Cele.
Political analysts described Matlala’s testimony as measured and strategic, noting that he appeared to be carefully presenting evidence without exposing himself or others to self-incrimination. He is scheduled to return to the commission next Monday and Tuesday.
