Vusimuzi Matlala testifies on ties to Shadrack Sibiya
Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, an alleged underworld figure, testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry regarding his interactions with suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya. Matlala denied having a close friendship with Sibiya, describing him instead as “someone that I knew.”
Matlala stated that his direct contact with Sibiya was centered on the November 2024 disappearance of Pretoria businessman and farmer Jerry Boshoga. He claimed that while he initially used an intermediary, a detained SAPS Sergeant named Fannie Nkosi, he eventually spoke to Sibiya directly about the disappearance. Matlala noted that his first direct communication with Sibiya had actually been via email regarding a public works lease agreement.
The disappearance of Boshoga in Centurion has drawn scrutiny toward alleged links between criminal syndicates and police corruption, involving ransom demands and drug debts. During the proceedings, Matlala expressed reluctance to provide detailed accounts of his dealings, citing fears of self-incrimination.
