Vuyyuru health officials investigate diarrhoea cases in Krishna district

At least 10 to 11 cases of diarrhoea have been reported in Vuyyuru and surrounding areas of the Krishna district over the last few days. Health authorities have established medical camps and initiated house-to-house surveys to monitor the health of local residents.

Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana visited the government hospital in Vuyyuru to interact with patients, noting that those receiving treatment are in stable condition. The Minister dismissed claims of a widespread outbreak as false propaganda, stating that preliminary laboratory tests of drinking water samples showed no bacterial contamination. He also clarified that a recent death in the hospital was due to pre-existing cardiac complications and was unrelated to the diarrhoea cases.

To prevent future issues, the government is implementing drinking water supply works under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, involving the installation of new pipelines at a cost of Rs 98 crore. Meanwhile, food safety authorities have collected water and food samples from the area for laboratory analysis in Chennai. During inspections, authorities seized approximately 10kg of food prepared with banned synthetic ingredients and issued a notice to a local hotel.
