Växjö bus accident leads to driver detention

A fatal bus accident occurred on highway 25 near Växjö, resulting in the death of a young man and multiple injuries. The driver of the bus has been detained and denies any wrongdoing, with his defense attorney stating the driver has been in a state of shock following the incident.

Pär Stensson, the regional incident commander, praised the efforts of bystanders and emergency personnel who assisted at the scene. He noted that civilians provided critical support, such as managing minor bleeding and offering emotional comfort to victims. However, Stensson also issued a warning regarding the risks of intervening at accident sites, noting that bystanders can inadvertently obstruct rescue workers or face dangers themselves, such as the risk of the vehicle sliding down a slope.
