Vybz Kartel announces new nightlife event and reality TV pilot

Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel is expanding his professional activities through a major live event and a new television project. On August 29, Kartel will host ‘The Return of The Building’ at the National Arena, a nightlife concept intended to recreate the dancehall club experience. The event is supported by Str8 Vybz, a rum brand owned by Kartel and distributed by Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited.

In addition to live performances, Kartel has signed a contract to produce a pilot for a new reality television series. Describing the concept as ‘I Love Lucy 2.0’, the show will focus on the relationship between Kartel and his fiancée, Sidem. This marks a shift from his previous reality programming toward a focus on his domestic life. Kartel also defended the current state of the dancehall genre, arguing that the music's commercial reach and opportunities for new artists are stronger than ever.
