San Antonio Airport runway: Driver arrested after high-speed chase
A high-speed police pursuit ended early Saturday morning when a driver crashed through a gate and onto the airfield at San Antonio International Airport (SAT).
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the chase began around 1:30 AM following an attempt by a trooper to stop a 2012 Chrysler. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Brandon Christopher Figueroa, allegedly refused to stop and led authorities on a pursuit through various parts of the city before entering the airport's runway area.
Troopers surrounded the vehicle and took Figueroa into custody at gunpoint. Authorities also recovered a firearm from inside the car. Figueroa faces charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle and unlawfully carrying a weapon. No injuries were reported, and airport operations were not significantly affected by the incident.
