Vyškov and Brno move forward with new sports hall and football stadium projects

The town of Vyškov in the Czech Republic is preparing to build a new multi‑purpose sports hall to relieve the over‑capacity of its existing facilities. Mayor Karel Jurka noted that the current hall at the Purkyňova primary school is fully booked and lacks spectator amenities. Deputy mayor Karel Goldemund said the project, based on a study by AS PROJECT and a national sports‑infrastructure manual, will replace an outdated changing‑room building and be located next to the existing hall.

In Brno, candidates for the city’s mayoral race have expressed unanimous support for constructing a new football stadium on the site behind the Lužánky park. The candidates, including Jakub Hruška (KDU‑ČSL, STAN) and Jana Janulíková (independent), agreed that the stadium should be built by a private investor while the city acts as a reliable partner. The proposal follows the recent promotion of local clubs Zbrojovka and Artis to the Czech top league, prompting calls for a modern, higher‑capacity venue.
